And Then You Die

We received a distressing call last week from Gail (for those of you not in the know that would be Allen's mom). Her cat, Edna, had passed away. They had Edna for about 7-8 years. Edna was a member of their family and both Gail and Bob were equally upset. Alex and Rachel could hear Allen on the phone talking to his Mom and became very concerned when they heard Grammy was upset and crying. Mr. Sensitive, Alex, immediately began to cry because Grammy was crying, even though he had no idea why. Ms. B wanted to talk to Grammy, she needs answers. After speaking with Grammy we explained to the kids why Grammy was upset. This was followed by many, many questions. Will we see Edna again? What was wrong? She was sick, why didn't she go to the doctor? They doctor couldn't fix her? This went on and on until they grasped it to some extent. When we focused in on that Edna was sick this reminded Alex to tell us how his friend Jaime was sick that day. Rachel then informed us after school Jaime had gone home and died. So apparently Rachel didn't quite grasp it. So this is all your warnings, if you tell Rachel you are sick, chances are very good she will tell you that you will die. And then Alex will cry.
